I am Kiana Daniels, well known as Casey. Born in 1996 in Brooklyn, NY and currently residing with my fiance in Jersey City, NJ- I am a full time student at Essex County College where I aspire to become a nurse. Furthermore, I am employed as a Unit Secretary on the Mental Health Unit at Jersey City Medical Center.
Subsequently followed by graduation, I want to undertake my nursing responsibilities at the same health care facility I currently work at. In addition to being a full time student and part time employee- I am a creative writer, blogger, journalist, and an enthusiast about a lot of concepts which incited me to initiate this blog. During the time I attended school in New York, I served as a journalist for my school newspaper and online blog.
My impassioned self knows mental health more than any other topic slightly because I work in such a field and exceedingly due to my arduous journey of getting diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. After being subjected to sexual assault in 2015 I faced a number of mental health issues including major depressive disorder. For some time I turned towards drugs to cope with my emotions until I overdosed in October of 2019. My overdose was a major eye opener and inspired me to get more serious about my writing.
I gripped tightly to the rope of writing which helped me unload my ever-growing burdens. My sisters and writing is what encouraged me, helped me get out of depression, and exposed me to the rays of happiness.
Now that within less than 3 years, I will have my degree in my hand, and with that, I will joyously work in the same field that supports mental health and would be advocating for victims of sexual assault and those engulfed with depression.
